Some Common Types Of Home Lighting Fixtures
Lighting requires careful planning and choosing the right kind of lighting fixtures for your home is very important. While traditional wall fixtures with "arms" remain the most popular form of wall lighting, more contemporary wall sconces are gaining popularity, especially for hallway or accent lighting. Wall lighting can offer needed illumination levels to prevent accidents on stairs, especially when an overhead ceiling fixture is not feasible.
For reading in bed, one good idea is to get a pair of matching wall or pendant fixtures and get them installed 30 inches above the mattress.
Another popularly used lighting fixtures are the recessed lights. They are down lights and can make a room look very impressive. They are good for living rooms. They can be used with different lighting fixtures and you can dim these lights for creating special environment.
Recessed lights are ideal for task areas where you require good focused lighting to perform the task conveniently. It is good for areas like kitchen counter, bathroom vanity etc.
Another advantage of recessed lights are, they can be used as accent lights also to highlight special features of a room like a painting or any art work. You can even make a room appear larger in size with recessed lights. Use them on light colored walls in small living room areas. This will create a contrast in the room thus making it look bigger and beautiful.
